The cat is sitting on his patio, friendly, clearly missed by someone. The neighbour would call straight away — but call whom? Only a vet or animal shelter can read the microchip, with a scanner. The engraved tag shows a number from two house moves ago. So he does what everyone does: takes a photo for the neighbourhood group. And hopes.
Meanwhile you're walking the streets, printing flyers, phoning round the shelters. And all the while your cat is two gardens away on a stranger's sofa — with someone who this whole time needed just one thing: a way to reach you.

The technology behind it
Three stops lie between the finder and your phone. None needs an app, none needs a scanner — and none needs the cat to be caught first.
Step 01
The ordinary phone camera opens a lean page with the profile you've set up: name, species, temperament and quirks — right through to emergency notes such as allergies or medication. The finder knows straight away how to approach your pet and what to watch out for.
Step 02
The finder picks between two reports: "Animal found", when it's safe with them, or "Animal spotted", when it moves on. Even a sighting gets you further — you know where to search. They share their location with one tap along with it.
Step 03
The message reaches you via WhatsApp, email or optionally SMS — with the find location as an address and map link. Replies travel back through SilentLink, and if it needs to be quick, the finder can call you directly — relayed through SilentLink, on the Premium plan. And you set off.
Your number stays invisible throughout — the relay runs encrypted via SilentLink.

Location isn't reachability
GPS trackers for the collar are useful — as long as the battery is alive. But on the very night it matters, it's either charged or it isn't. Add to that subscription costs and a housing that's quickly too bulky for cats and small dogs. And even when the dot on the map is right: it doesn't tell the person currently stroking the runaway how to reach you.
The PetID has no battery, nothing to charge, nothing to maintain — it works on day one and on day one thousand. And it starts where a missing animal usually already is: with a person who wants to help. They scan, see your profile with your notes and report the find location. The PetID is a smart pet tag with a QR code from SilentLink, built for the collar of dogs and cats. A finder scans it with their ordinary phone camera, sees the profile with name, temperament and your notes — and you get the report in seconds via WhatsApp, SMS or email. No battery, no app, nothing to charge.
No — it complements it. The microchip is the permanent identification, but only a vet or shelter can read it with a scanner. The PetID can be read by anyone with a smartphone: the neighbour, the passer-by out walking, the jogger. The chip proves who belongs to whom — the PetID makes sure it never has to come to the shelter in the first place.
The engraving shows your phone number to anyone who reads it — forever, even when it long since leads nowhere after a house move or a change of phone. The PetID flips that around: the finder reaches you instantly but never sees your data. And what they do see, you keep updated in the dashboard — instead of having a new tag engraved.
The two answer different questions. The tracker shows you a position — as long as the battery is alive and the subscription is running.
