How exactly does DriveID work?
DriveID is a QR contact point you attach to the inside of your window. Someone scans the code, picks a topic, writes a message — and it's forwarded to you encrypted, without your number ever being visible. You decide whether and how to reply.
Does my phone number really stay private?
Yes, absolutely. Your number is never shown or shared — it's not on the DriveID, not in the message, nowhere. Communication runs through our GDPR-compliant platform; you keep full control.
Is a QR code on the windscreen allowed?
Yes — as long as it stays out of the driver's field of view. In Germany, § 23 StVO applies: the driver's view must not be obstructed. That is why the DriveID is deliberately small (54 × 86 mm, credit-card format) and belongs inside, in a lower corner of the windscreen or on a side window — outside the field of view, just like a toll or emissions badge. Rules differ from country to country, so a quick check is worth it.
Are there any ongoing costs?
No. The DriveID costs €24.99 once (volume prices from 2 units), and the Starter plan stays free forever. Premium and Family are optional — the plan comparison is right above these questions.
Can I try SilentLink for free?
Yes, in two ways: the live demo instantly shows you what a finder sees after scanning. And with the free QR code to print at home you use the platform yourself right away — notified by email, set up in two minutes.
Can I return it if it's not for me?
Yes — within 30 days of receipt, as long as the DriveID hasn't been activated yet. On activation it's permanently linked to your account and personalised, so check the format and fit before activating. Good to know: if you return only part of a set, the volume discount is recalculated for the quantity you keep (details in the cancellation policy). For defects, the statutory two-year warranty applies.
Does it work abroad too?
Yes. The QR code and web interface work worldwide. WhatsApp and email only need an internet connection, and SMS works while roaming.
What happens if my phone is off while someone scans?
The message goes to your channel as usual — WhatsApp and email deliver it as soon as your device is back online. The sender doesn't learn whether or when you're reachable.
What happens when I change vehicles?
In the dashboard you deactivate your DriveID with one click — from that moment the QR code leads nowhere. When you change vehicles, you simply activate a new DriveID in your existing account.
Can I manage several DriveIDs under one account?
Yes — as many as you like, with one shared plan. Handy for second cars, family vehicles or whole fleets: in a set of three, one DriveID is completely free (you save the full €24.99). Each DriveID has its own QR code, and everything runs centrally into your dashboard.
What sets DriveID apart from the other SilentLink IDs?
