Why the KeyID exists
Handed in by an honest finder. Collected by no one.
A bunch of keys is the most anonymous thing in your pocket — and that's exactly its problem. Whoever finds it can do nothing: no name, no number, no clue. And you can't change that either, because common sense forbids an address label on your keys. So the finder carries them to the lost-property office, where they sit beside a hundred other bunches that no one ever collects.
Meanwhile you're doing the maths at home: wait it out or change the locks? Front door, letterbox, cellar — and heaven help you if one key belongs to a locking system. And all the while the solution was just one scan away: a finder who wanted to help and had no way to.

The technology behind it
Three stops lie between the finder and your phone — none of them needs an app, and none reveals which door your key opens.

The ordinary phone camera opens a lean page with whatever you've saved: say "4 keys, red fob". The finder knows straight away they've got the right ones — and learns nothing more.
Step 02
Their message travels encrypted via servers in Germany and the EU to you. No name, no address, no number goes along the way — your keys stay as anonymous as keys must be.
Step 03
The message reaches you via WhatsApp, email or optionally SMS — with the find location as an address and map link. Replies travel back through SilentLink, and if it needs to be quick, the finder can call you directly — relayed through SilentLink, on the Premium plan. That's how you arrange the handover wherever suits you.

Because a key and an address are a bad combination — everyone senses it, which is why classic address tags on keyrings rightly go unused. The KeyID solves the dilemma: the finder reaches you instantly but learns neither who you are nor which door your key opens. You decide what you tell them and where you meet.

Yes: when sending their message, the finder shares their location with one tap — the find location then appears as an address with a map link right in your notification.
That stays your decision — but the situation is a different one: without a way to reach you, all that's left after a loss is uncertainty, and that argues for changing them. With the KeyID the finder often gets in touch within hours, you know where your keys were and that they could never be matched to an address.
